Planes, trains and automobiles ~ January 2014

Prague (Praha) has been a fantastic trip.  I have met my new team and we have great global diversity.  The team comes from the Ukriane, Georgia (the country - not the state), Slovakia, the Czech Republic, Finland.  They are a fantastic group of men with a weatlh of experiences and knowledge - both work and personal. They ensured that I never got lost (they were very concerned) and that I was well fed.

Last night I met a friend and one of her former roomates in the city at night and we went on a walk across the St. Charles Bridge and through the city.  After we could not stand the cold any longer we stopped for a light dinner and a not so light dessert.  Cafe Louvre was established in 1902.  They say that Einstein would stop there to eat after he lectured in the city.  So maybe today I am a little bit smarter :o)

Dinner was the most fantastic pumpkin soup I have ever had, and desert was (european) hot chocolate with rum and whipped creme.  Friends got cheesecake and ice cream sundaes.  Then we treked back to the metro and I returned to the hotel.  A fantastic end to a very productive week.

Today I leave Prague via a night train.  I leave in the evening and about 13 hours later arrive in Basel, my home for the next 2 weeks.  The upside of the night train is that I do not have to transfer during the trip.

I get to have a relaxing ride through the Czech Republic, Germany, and into Switzerland, and a nights sleep for less than the cost to spend the night at a hotel in Basel, which the thrifty side of me really likes.  The adventurous side is intrigued by the train experience itself.  I will let you know tomorrrow what I think.
